"Sweat It Out" With Sarah

The best part about being a healthy foodie is meeting other health foodies!  I love getting inspiration from the recipes and concoctions that others have developed. Although we can’t mirror someone’s process and expect the exact same results (you’re setting yourself up for disappointment there, folks),  inspiration is something that allows you to grow as an individual by simply finding the awesomeness and adjusting it to meet YOUR needs and YOUR lifestyle. I thinks that is pretty amazing and I think Sarah is even more so!

Sarah recently graduated from college and is the #BossChick behind The Cutting Veg. The name alone would suggest that she is a vegetarian but, she is actually a pescaterian whose diet restrictions worked in her favor by forcing her to love “real food” and make creative meals consisting of mainly whole grains, vegetables, beans, and fruits.  Now, let’s vibe and become better acquainted with this health foodie extraordinaire!

1. Name: Sarah

2. Age: 22

3. Hometown: Currently: Princeton, NJ. In my heart: New York, NY

4. What is your favorite way to sweat?

I am SUCH a huge runner. Up until recently, I have been running outside a whole lot, but now I have to make the dreaded transition to treadmill running. Nothing says perfect Saturday then running on the boardwalk/hudson river/body of water. And of course the massive brunch afterwards.

5. How long have you been dedicated to living a #HEALTHYLIVINGLIFESTYLE?

My senior year of high school, I tore my ACL. I had done ballet for most of my life, so the injury was devastating. To recover, I began biking and running. It was not until then, when I realized exercising on most days and eating right, made me FEEL like my best self.

6. What is your absolute favorite workout gear brand and why?

You're going to call me crazy here, but I really love the athletic clothing I get from Old Navy. As a recent college graduate who has a bust too small for most sports bras, I find their products to be the best cost/benefit trade-off. Oh and I am a Nike Tempo running shorts fanatic. I swear I have 10 pairs.

7. What is your absolute favorite workout shoe and why?

Asics are my go to, specifically the Gel Noosa Tri-9. Asics are so comfortable for my wide, small feet and the gel noosa in particular make running easy on my shins and knees. They're lightweight, supportive, and they SLIP ON which makes waking up in the morning for a run SO much easier.

8. What motivates you to keep going on days that you don’t want to workout and or eat right?

Setting out my clothes the night before and having a KILLER alarm makes me motivated to go for my 6 AM run. Currently, my alarm is Who Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce. It never fails to get me up regardless of how tired I am. Is it because I went to a woman's college? Possibly.

9. How did you come up with your playlist name?

My playlist name is Sweet It Out. When I first started running, I did so because of my ACL, but also because I wanted to be able to eat more. Now that I exercise most of the time, I find I actually enjoy it solely for the endorphin high. But the extra oatmeal brown butter chocolate chip cookie doesn't hurt.

Note on Mirrors: This is normally the song I run to on repeat. I have been doing this for YEARS, people. I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to stress too much about my music choices when I'm trying to maneuver through crowded NYC streets, ya feel?
