Hip Hip Hurray! For Active Nation Day!

I had the opportunity to take part in Active Nation Day #Dallas this past Sunday (September 27th) in the Center Park Garden at Northpark Center and, let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Started by Lorna Jane in 2012, the entire premise behind Active Nation Day is to fight back against the growing obesity problem that plagues women worldwide and “...to encourage women to mark their commitment to active living by getting out and moving their bodies.” And move we did!

This fun fitness experience was led by the #GritByBrit crew from Grit Fitness Studios located in Dallas, Texas. They provided those of us in attendance with a fun fit mix that really pushed us all to our limits. This upbeat cardio experience lasted for one hour and definitely had me eager to see what was next. We kicked the day off with dance cardio courtesy of our instructor, Emily.  Working out in a garden area while the people at Bread Winners enjoyed brunch and a full view of our sweat session was intimidating, but hitting my best tootsie roll with this group of women really got me out of my shell and, more importantly, worked up a sweat! This 20 min routine was unpredictable, fun, and I literally felt like I was having a dance party with my girls before heading out for a night on the town - minus those pesky heels!

Up next: turbo kick with Annie.  Annie exuded all positive everything from start to finish, which was definitely an appreciated quality as the workout grew more intense (I kick boxed and hit that “soulja boy” at the same time, yea - that happened). The finale was a body sculpt series led by Brittani, owner of GRIT fitness studio, who WORKED MY BUTT OUT. All caps.  Each exercise was meant to shape, sculpt, and target those problem areas all while moving and grooving.  My favorite part?  Singing and sweating to the tune of Whitney Houston’s , “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).”

We concluded our Active Nation Day with a trip to Lorna Jane for a bit of swag bag love that included treats from Neuro and Zico Coconut water, both of which will be making appearances on my #FitXBrit weekly meals in the near future. And the cute active wear by Lorna Jane? Gotta have it! As a sucker for shirts cute fitness-inspired messages, I felt like a kid in a candy store at #LornaJaneNorthPark.

There's no question that I will now be a regular at Active Nation Day from this point forward!  Not only am I in love with the movement, but I genuinely had an amazing day and feel even more ready to conquer my week!
