Hello Accountability: 2020 Wellness Goals

I am not a fan of New Year's resolutions but am a huge fan of quarterly goals and implementing changes that impact my overall wellness. Listening to my body and creating attainable goals is my focus. Scroll down for some of the things that I am excited about for the new year. 2020, I am coming for you!

Show Up And Take Up Space

As a single mom, a lot of the time, I find myself taking care of everyone else around besides myself. For example, this afternoon, I made P breakfast, created content for FitXBrit and BeanXCream, and totally forgot to make any of my meals for the day or drink my morning tea, which I found sitting on the stove cold once I returned from the kid's playdate. It's something small, but I've learned that I can only show up for the people I love when I take up space for myself. This means making my wellness a priority. In this season of life, I am learning that it is okay for me not to have a set routine, and it is certainly not going to look the same every day and that that's okay. My goal is to listen to what I need, not to feel guilty about it, and to take up space in my life that is just for me unapologetically.

Practice Gratitude For My Wellness Structure

So often in this last year, I seemed to just be going through the motions when it came to making "wellness" focused choices. Whether it was stopping in at Juiceland for breakfast or receiving my favorite skincare products from my NOW family, it all just started to become routine, and somewhere along the way, I forgot that I am so blessed to be able to make these choices in the first place. I'm grateful that I am in a position to sign up for my favorite yoga or meditation classes, so I want to remind myself to be present and enjoy those classes for the challenge and how they make me feel stronger mentally, physically, and emotionally. So I want to make sure I'm bringing gratitude and being thankful in all the choices that I'm able to make for myself and my health.

Finding Neutrality W/ My Body And Food

This one maybe a little bit more complicated than the rest, but I am strongly focusing on deprogramming myself from the culture's concept of what "good" and "bad" food is. Letting go of labels and embracing listening to my body and allowing it to tell me what it needs to thrive intuitively. My first step in exploring that is fully committing to the Whole 30 this month(meat and all) and then reintroducing and eliminating food groups one at a time as I feel how my body responds to the process. I just want to FEEL more in all areas of my life.

Be Intentional About How I Start My Day

I am, for sure, a morning person. But to be honest, since being responsible for another human being, if I am not intentional about how I start my day, I end up spend my morning scrolling social media until it is time to wake up my mini. So the goal is to continue to wake up at 4:30 a.m. but spend the extra time that I do have reading, journaling, doing creative work, and creating peace to lead me onto the day's activities.
